Still dating...

Here are some new ideas to keep your dating ideas on a budget, from "Wise Bread, living large on a small budget". She also posts discount/free items daily on her blog, check it out.

This is a picture taken when we visited Dallas a few years back and I found a log cabin village online.

another To Do

Clothesline poles, rain, sandy loam soil and riding lawn mowers do not go together. Kenneth was mowing the other day and trying really hard not to blow the grass onto the patio and into Dusty's pool (thank you for that) and backed into the clothesline pole. It knocked it loose about 2". So we are going to be re-cementing the poles in with an 80 lb. cement this time instead of the 40 lb. we used the first time.

Another thing you need to think about if you decide to put in a clothesline, depending on your soil type, how much cement do I need to use?
Update (Tuesday, June 24, 2006): This job has been done. Because of all the burning going on in the backyard I wasn't able to use the clothesline this weekend anyway, so Kenneth got this job completed before we left on our road trip. (I guess if you don't mind smelling like a campfire it would have been OK.)

Still burning...

we also started burning three of the smaller piles.
This is what's left of the big pile, just the tree stumps,
burn baby burn. We leave in two days.

We are burning the wood pile...

Now we just let the stumps burn, this was a really good smelling fire...
It had pine trees, apple wood and a pecan wood in it.

But maybe I should have held off on hanging out the rugs to dry...
Another thing to remember when using the clothesline.

Today's List...

  1. Wake up - go out and get the "Texarkana Gazette" newspaper, make coffee, settle in to read the paper, move Colby around so I can read the paper. He thinks he needs to be right on top of it.
  2. Reset the Pagoda, Amanda called it the leaning pagoda, now it doesn't lean anymore.
  3. Weed the flower bed around the Elephant ear plant. Get it ready to plant "hollyhocks." They are seeds I bought last year, we'll see how they do.
  4. Deadhead the petunias. This keeps them blooming.
  5. Check the garden. We have our 1st cucumber growing.
  6. Measure the sunflowers - 7' today.
  7. Check the strawberries - 3 today; only got to eat 1, something else is getting them before we are. I think its slugs.
  8. Spray the weeds along the fence - poison ivy. Kenneth sprayed it Monday, but I think we'll give it some more since we had rain yesterday.
  9. Sweep/vacuum, dishes...all the usual.
  10. Read "Chickens In the Road". She makes me smile.
  11. Have a good day!
