This is Fred.

This is Fred, he is a bumblebee and he's in love with the cantaloupe plant. Everytime I go out there he is there flying from flower to flower.

I know we will have lots of cantaloupe because he's doing a good job of pollinating.

This sunflower was planted out by the burn pile by the birds. It's really pretty. It's only about 3 1/2' tall so I was able to get a better picture of it.

I posted my 1st post on the "Great Sunflower Project" today. I watched the sunflower off the patio for only 16 minutes, from 17:15 - 17:26 and saw 5 bees come to the flower for pollen, 3 honeybees and 2 carpenter bees.

I was truly amazed, because I really didn't think I would see any bees. I feel better knowing we have a least a few.
